NELVANA AND FISHER-PRICE SIGN MULTI-TERRITORY MASTER TOY DEAL FOR MISS SPIDER’S SUNNY PATCH™ FRIENDS SERIES

(New York, New York—February 17, 2004) Currently in production as a 26 x half hour preschool series at Nelvana in association with executive producer Callaway & Kirk, Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends makes its debut outing at Toy Fair 2004 with a just-inked international master toy deal in hand.

Fisher-Price has signed on to produce a range of infant and preschool products based on Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America.

Slated for a fall 2005 retail debut, the line, featuring key characters Bounce and Squirt, will include preschool toys, playsets, plush and software for learning platforms.

“This is one of the most visually stunning properties in our portfolio, and Fisher-Price is the ideal partner to bring the concept and characters to life in the toy realm,” said Sid Kaufman, Executive VP of Worldwide Merchandising, Nelvana. “The colorful world of Sunny Patch is full of fun and adventure and we look forward to working with Fisher-Price as we position our characters as the perfect pals for preschoolers, both on-air and off.”

“We believe that Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends will have tremendous appeal with preschoolers and are excited to begin developing an engaging toy line that will bring the characters and storylines to life,” said Kevin Curran, General Managers, Fisher-Price Friends.

Drawing on the stories and world of David Kirk’s best-selling Miss Spider books, with more than 4 million copies in print, Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends encourages kids to appreciate the differences in others, promotes acceptance and takes toddlers on pint-sized adventures in the world of Sunny Patch.

Callaway & Kirk, a division of Callaway Arts & Entertainment, is the creator of the Miss Spider and Sunny Patch properties. The company publishes books, designs the Sunny Patch children’s lifestyle products, and produces the forthcoming computer animated television series in association with Nelvana. The show is slated to debut on Nick, Jr. in the U.S. this August and on TF1 in France in Fall 2005. Deals in Italy and the U.K. are currently on the table.

Nicholas Callaway, CEO of Callaway Arts & Entertainment, says, “Miss Spider has become one of the most beloved contemporary classic children’s properties. Few realize that David Kirk was an extraordinary toymaker for many years before creating Miss Spider in book form. It will be wonderful to see what the combined talents of David Kirk and Fisher-Price will bring to the world of children’s toys.”

The series will also enjoy extended media life on international home video over the next few years. Home entertainment partners currently on board include Artisan in the U.S. and TF1 in France.
