When I founded Callaway Arts & Entertainment in 1980, I did so with an appreciation for the unique and enduring power of books to inspire, inform, and entertain.  In the years since, as our focus has broadened and we have become a leading creator of family entertainment properties, we have been privileged to partner with artists who share our dedication to producing compelling content for children.

David Kirk’s beloved Miss Spider series has become a modern classic, reaching millions of children through books and television.  More than five million copies of his masterfully illustrated stories have been sold since readers were first introduced to his wondrous bug world in 1994.  Now, these devoted readers can watch Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends on Nick Jr., learning valuable lessons about the importance of diversity and community, a theme that has resonated with pre-schoolers and parents alike since the show’s debut in 2004.  David has also captured this spirit in our Sunny Patch™ lifestyle collection, which includes garden products, bike and automotive accessories, and camping, luggage, and sporting goods featuring Miss Spider and her friends, available at Target stores nationwide since 2002.

David’s newest series, Nova the Robot, continues the tradition of excellence and ingenuity that has become a hallmark of the Miss Spider series.  We are currently developing plans to bring Nova and his world of robots to the pre-school television audience, so that young viewers will be able to experience Nova’s inventive ways firsthand.

Our collaboration with Madonna has produced five best-selling children’s stories, beautifully illustrated volumes that have introduced a new generation to her unique voice and have sold more than 2 million copies in 40 languages in more than 100 countries.  The sequel to The English Roses, her first and much-loved story about friendship, jealousy, and finding acceptance, will be released in 2006.

As we continue to grow, telling more stories through books, film, television, and emerging technologies, we remain committed to the principles that have guided us since the company’s inception.  We look forward to inspiring, informing, and entertaining you and your family for years to come.
